EVIDENCE-BASED THERAPY • INDIVIDUALIZED INSIGHT • MEASURABLE CHANGE
Evidence-Based Individual Therapy in Buffalo, Western New York, and Across New York State
Dynamic, human-centered therapy that balances presence, precision, and progress
Therapy is not a formula—it’s a living, adaptive process.
Our work balances presence and precision to foster transformation and build the inner strength needed to meet the challenges of modern life.
My approach draws from a curated spectrum of research-backed methods, integrating cognitive and behavioral science, motivational principles, systems thinking, and a strength-based perspective. We’ll leverage empirically supported mechanisms of change, while always remaining grounded in integrity, humility, and your own self-knowledge.
The goal is measurable, sustainable progress rooted in evidence and human connection.
This is flexible, dynamic support that’s meant to grow and change as you do.
Where science meets the stuff of life—targeted therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, and life transitions
Change doesn’t come from quick fixes or one-size-fits-all solutions. It happens when we meet your experience with both clear strategy and genuine attunement.
Whether it’s the restless noise of anxiety, the quiet weight of depression, the burnout that drains your sense of purpose, or the uncertainty of life’s big shifts, therapy is a process of discovery and deliberate practice.
Specializing in:
Anxiety & Overthinking: Reduce avoidance, uncertainty, and physiological stress responses.
Depression & Low Motivation: Rebuild meaning, energy, and forward momentum.
Stress & Burnout: Recalibrate amidst chronic strain and exhaustion.
Life Transitions & Adjustment: Navigate personal and professional change.
Relationships & Boundaries: Strengthen communication, regulation, and perspective-taking.
Self-Esteem & Identity: Cultivate confidence, performance, and enduring self-efficacy.
About Andrew Wilton, LCSW
Psychotherapist, practice owner, and former professor integrating clinical precision with human connection
With nearly 20 years of experience in social work, education, research, and psychotherapy, I’ve had the privilege of helping more than 1,000 individuals navigate the weight of a complex world.
Before entering social work, I studied architecture and urban planning, drawn to the way design shapes connection and community. Over time, I realized my real work wasn’t with structures, but with the people who inhabit them: how we live, adapt, and relate to the environments that hold us.
In my work today, I integrate that same lens of design and ecology with a deep understanding of human behavior, strategic thinking, and the belief that every person holds far more capacity than they may yet know.
My style is collaborative, creative, and deeply human. Let’s work together.

FAQs
-
Online therapy sessions are held through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform embedded in TherapyPortal, our online client portal. TherapyPortal is mobile optimized and does not require a software download, allowing you to access support in a way that is conducive to your schedule and preferred location.
-
Yes—research consistently shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions for many concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, and relationship issues. Meeting virtually allows you to access evidence-based support from the comfort and privacy of your own space, while still building a strong, personal connection.
-
Yes! As a licensed therapist providing online therapy throughout New York State, I’m able to work with clients no matter where in the state they are located—from Buffalo and Western New York to New York City and Long Island, the Capital District and Hudson Valley, or the Adirondack Mountains. I also hold a telehealth registration in the State of Vermont and offer online therapy for Vermonters on a private pay basis.
-
Most sessions last 45 minutes and take place weekly or biweekly, though this can vary based on your needs and goals. Some clients prefer to meet less frequently as they make progress. We’ll discuss what schedule works best for you and adjust as needed to ensure therapy fits naturally into your life.
-
My private pay rates are $120 per 45-minute session and $160 per 60-minute session. Therapy is an eligible service under most health savings accounts (HSA), many flexible spending accounts (FSA), and some wellness cards. If cost is a concern, we can also discuss options to make therapy more accessible.

I am an in-network provider with Aetna, Optum, and many of their subsidiaries. Coverage can vary depending on your plan, so we’ll confirm your benefits before getting started. If I’m not in-network with your plan, you may still be able to use out-of-network benefits for partial reimbursement, and I can provide a detailed receipt (often called a superbill) to help with that process.
-
Getting started is simple. You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation directly into my calendar for the coming weeks. During that call, we’ll talk briefly about what’s bringing you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and any questions you have about getting started. From there, we’ll schedule your first online session and begin working together at a pace that aligns with your needs and preferences.
